Key aspects of the redevelopment involved the provision of a Learning Resource Centre incorporating teaching rooms and a modern library fully equipped with IT facilities, specialist Equine Facilities that offers nationally acclaimed facilities and Accommodation blocks providing 130 student apartments, all en suite. A new Sports Academy and 3G All Weather Pitch has allowed this aspect of the College’s offer to attract students. Extensive infrastructure works, roads and car parking were also carried out in the transformation of this premier land based College, enabling future development to take place. The development of a green travel plan achieved segregation of vehicular traffic from student movement across campus. Key “green2 projects were incorporated which had real commercial value. These included slurry treatment plant with animal waste being used as fertiliser, borehole extraction for farm use and the creation of a lake both for storm water and for use in equestrian events.
The latest phase, just completed, involved extension and refurbishment to the student social building, matching campus lifestyle to the enhanced learning provision. We continue to deliver on time (to the day in this instance) and to budget.
The works have been executed in partnership adopting PPC 200 as the form of contract. Close cooperation and early contractor dialogue at all stages of the project produced a collaborative effort which has demonstrates the benefits of partnering as such radical transformation has taken place in a short time. The project became the vehicle for consolidation of supply chains resulting in long term commitment to apprenticeship training and provided extensive opportunity for site visits from our partner schools.
